1. From
Hong Kong International
Airport
By Buses and Train:
Airbus no.A41 goes between the airport and Shatin Train Station. Fares:
HK$20 (about US$2.5). The trip takes about 1 hour depending on traffic. It runs
from 0600 to 2400 every day, with a bus every 15-20 minutes. The bus station in
Shatin is right under Shatin Train Station and shopping mall, just a few minutes
walk to Royal Park Hotel.
Those who stay in our university guest house can also take the KCR train at
Shatin Train Station and gets off in 2 stops (University Station).
By
Taxi:
Fares to Shatin is about HK$300 (about US$40). To University is about HK$350
(about US$45)
2. From Shenzhen (深圳)
The easiest way is to take the KCR Train(九廣鐵路) , which goes from Lo Wu (羅湖) to various parts of Hong Kong. There is a train station (University Station 大學站) right on the campus of CUHK. The University Station is the sixth station and about 20 minutes from Lo Wu, and the one-way ticket costs HK$23. You can find a train system map here.
3. To get around town to/from CUHK
The main connection is through the KCR East Rail trains. It connects to the subway system of Hong Kong (the MTR trains) which is a convenient and inexpensive way to get around Hong Kong. Both KCR and MTR run from around 6am till around midnight.
4. School Bus
Free school
bus runs every 20 minutes from University Train Station to various points on
campus.
The physics department is located in Science Center North Block (H10 on the
campus map), at the central part of the campus. The guest houses are at H17a and
H17b on the campus map. Walking between Science Center and the University Train
Station takes about 10-15 minutes.
Esther Lee Building (ELB) is at C1, it only takes 3 minutes to walk from the
University KCR station to ELB.
